It’s fair to say that we rarely use our Wii these days, but as long as the genius that is Nordic Games continue to make such amazing singing and dancing games, then, clearly, we’ll keep playing on our Wii.
We Dance is a spot on piece of family fun. It utilises three different styles of play, each offering varying levels of difficulty, and there are 40 songs spanning four decades of music (all with fully choreographed dance steps). From rock to pop, rap to disco and hip hop to drum n bass, there is something for everyone and the majority of tracks include the original videos.
And, for me, what makes We Dance the ultimate dance party game, is those music choices. A.R. Rahman Feat. The Pussycat Dolls - Jai Ho! (You Are My Destiny), Ace Of Base (Don’t Turn Around), Barry Manilow (Copacabana (At The Copa)), Basshunter Feat. DJ Mental Theo’s Bazzheadz (Now You’re Gone), Los Del Rio (Macarena), Pixie Lott (Boys And Girls), Snap! (Rhythm Is A Dancer), The Village People - (YMCA) and so much more. There really is something for everyone to dance (and sing, if you’re anything like me!) along.
We Dance(Wii) supports four players dancing simultaneously. The variety of game play is superb and highlights exciting development in game play opportunity. You can play using your hands only (with the Wii Remote), feet only (with the dance mat), and when you’ve mastered the moves, then try putting both together. Dance School allows you to learn the dance moves of professional dancers, with step-by-step instructions. Warm-up Sessions help you to get fit the fun way and prepare for those energetic dance moves with warm-up routines. And there’s Dance TV where you can simply play through the songs, just like a jukebox, allowing the younger family members to hear you crone along to the older songs. Then there’s performance statistics so you can check out how well you’ve performed (with statistics relating to your dance performance) and a leader board display high scores, for the competitive dancer.
We Dance(Wii) is top class family fun which I highly and absolutely recommend. Now, I’m off to perfect my skills before the kiddies come home from school. Competitive, me? Much!
