News: 'The Unwrapping Of Theodora Quirke'
Caroline Smailes
A CHRISTMAS CAROL MEETS STRANGER THINGS IN THIS FUNNY, SWEARY AND MOVING FESTIVE STORY.
Transworld author Caroline Smailes will publish her long-awaited Christmas novel with RedDoor Press in October 2020. The move reunites Smailes with RedDoor publisher Clare Christian who published Smailes’ critically-acclaimed debut In Search of Adam in 2007.
Already described as ‘funny and touching and utterly brilliant’ by Rachael Lucas and ‘a remarkable, funny, truly redemptive read' by Miranda Dickinson, RedDoor is pitching The Unwrapping of Theodora Quirke as A Christmas Carol meets Stranger Things in this funny, sweary and moving festive story.
Christian says ‘I have loved Caroline’s writing since the moment I read the submission for In Search of Adam, and am so excited to have the opportunity to work with her again. The Unwrapping of Theodora Quirke is everything Caroline’s fans have been waiting for and more.’
Smailes adds, ‘I am so delighted to be joining RedDoor and working with Clare and Heather (Boisseau) again. I feel as though I have come back home and am really looking forward to getting The Unwrapping of Theodora Quirke out for Christmas – my favourite time of year!'
The publication of the novel is timed to coincide with the film premier of an earlier novel by Smailes, The Drowning of Arthur Braxton (HarperCollins).
