Interview about Like Bees to Honey in the Times of Malta

by Caroline Smailes on August 29, 2010

My print and video interviews with Kristina Chetcuti are now on the Times of Malta website (and the article is in print today). The video was shot in the sunshine on a busy road right next to my great-grandparents’ house, a house called ‘Elena’.

You can read and watch it all here.

(And for anyone coming to my site for the first time today - a big HELLO to you!)

You’re so beautiful, the interview was brilliant (both of them) and you’re writing is so utterly lovely and clever! Loved watching/reading this Caroline!

What a lovely interview and article.

It’s obvious that they love the book and perhaps more importantly they have validated your perspective on Malta as true and fair - and refreshingly observant and honest.

It would be interesting to know which of your books is the one you feel you had to/wanted to, write - or does each come from a different place? I just felt that this book was one you felt compelled to write.

The support from Malta has been utterly amazing! I have had so many messages wishing me well. This book I wanted to write a number of years ago but worried that I’d get it wrong and ‘let down’ Malta and my grandparents. I wanted to write this book but it was very much about having to be in the right place to do it and ISoA shouted loudest! x
