After a few final tweaks, I’m thrilled to finally show you the finished front cover of ‘FREAKS!’. Ta da (da-da-da-da)!
Now, I know that this front cover is slightly different to any of my other front covers, but that’s because this project is absolutely unlike anything I’ve ever written before.
‘FREAKS!‘ brings together 50 illustrated and rather short stories. The stories contain weird and (I think) wonderful people. The 50 illustrated short stories are flashes into the lives of people who don’t quite fit into society, people who have real or imagined super powers. Some of them are people I’d quite like to have as friends.
As most of you know I wrote the 50 stories with the Willy Wonka of the short story world, Nik Perring, and then the Darth Vader of the illustrating world, Darren Craske, interpreted them in his own unique way. This front cover gives you a taste of what’s inside, as 5 of the characters are coloured and shown in all their glory.
The publication of ‘FREAKS!’ is still months away, as publication is April 2012, but seeing the finished front cover was, I guess, on a par with seeing a scan picture of your new baby. I really and truly can’t wait to finally hold the actual book. 7.5 months to go, and counting…
