Weekend Gaming: Blue Toad Murder Files and Build-A-Bear Workshop App

by Caroline Smailes on December 12, 2010

Blue Toad Murder Files: The Mysteries of Little Riddle was released a couple of weeks ago via direct download. Players around the world can download the game as a complete six-episode package direct to the PC in their own home. Genius!

Blue Toad Murder Files is set in the quintessentially English village of Little Riddle where murder is a happening! You and your fellow detectives just so happen to be taking a welcome break in Little Riddle when someone is shot right in front of you! Dum-dum-daaaaaaa! This is, clearly, a suitable case for the Blue Toad detectives, so a new murder file is opened and you decide to stay in the village to solve the crime (much to the annoyance of the village’s Chief Inspector).

As one of the famous Blue Toad detectives you solve puzzles, interrogate suspects, use your powers of observation and investigate clues to uncover the strange goings on in this quaint and sleepy village. So, the main aim of the game is to follow clues to find the murderer. Along the way you also encounter a variety of different and challenging puzzles which help you move through the peaceful world of Little Riddle. With each step of the investigation a puzzle is played to help a villager or get further clues about the case. Then, at the end of each episode, you will be asked to choose your suspect before they are revealed and exposed in all their criminal capacities!

It is ABSOLUTELY ace! Think Professor Layton mixed with Miss Marple and a sense of humour added to it all. And, believe me, when you watch as many murder mystery type TV series as I do, this is RIGHT up my street. Just call me, Inspector Cas…

Direct download is available from the Blue Toad Murder Files website.

And, now to one for younger folks.

Littlest has been poorly this weekend, which is an absolute disaster as we had a party planned for the XFactor final. To ease her woe, she has been playing a free Build-A-Bear Workshop branded App on my iPhone (which is a HUGE treat!).

As you know, Littlest (and I) are big Build-A-Bear fans and I especially love that the company keeps getting it so right. This App is FREE (which is the reason why I am blogging about it) and allows the user to check out the latest furry friends and fashions, receive exclusive special offers and play games which are just for App users. But possibly more important than all of that is that the App has received a big thumbs up from Littlest (in between poorliness).

The Build-A-Bear App for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad is now available as a free download from the iTunes App Store.

Build-a-Bear is an example of how to get it right, their customer service is spot on.

Hope Littlest is on the mend and hasn’t shared her germs with the rest of you. Thanks for the link to the Build-a-Bear App. I have downloaded it to my iPod Touch for those times when we are out with N3S but have forgotten his DS. Going to check out Blue Toad now…
Oh and happy birthday!!!!!!!!!!
