The Drowning of Arthur Braxton: Inspired by Gaspard Royant

I’m a little bit obsessed with all things French, novel seven will be set in Paris (novel six will be set in Liverpool). I lived in France when I was eighteen, had an adventure, lost and found myself on the way. One day I’d like to be published in French, it’s on my publishing-wish-list (along with three other wishes). I’m rather restrained in my wish-making.

And as many of you know, a lyric from a song inspired ‘The Drowning of Arthur Braxton’. A lyric by the very fabulous and very French Gaspard Royant. And I especially love that the story of this inspiration has been picked up by Le Rideau. I adore the French language, do check out the article here and there’s a link to the song that inspired.

I think La Noyade d’Arthur Braxton has a rather lovely ring to it…

I read the article (must say, it was a surprise that I could actually understand it still) and it was beautifully written. Arthur would be so magical in French (although, it is magical anyway). I am so stupidly proud of you, Caroline! Honestly, when we first spoke just over a year ago, I only dreamed things like this for you. Can’t stop grinning and thinking “I know her” like a fool! You are totally ace and this is just one more thing you deserve! xxx

I am more than delighted that your launches went well. Loved the cakes am very envious that I couldn’t get to either maybe next time. I am so looking forward to reading Arthur and it would be brilliant to have it in French aswell. What a lovely article in Le Rideau, lets hope your publisher likes the idea too. Don’t take quite so long with the next novel though as it’s very hard to wait.
