Something for the weekend: Clone Wars and a question

by Caroline Smailes on January 21, 2011

(This ‘Something for the Weekend’ post comes to you via my geekness)

Some of you will already know that I’m a BIG Star Wars fan (my children all having Star Wars linked names, in a subtle way, honest!). So it will be of little surprise to discover that over the last few weekends we have been reliving the intergalactic excitement and feeling the Force like never before with Star Wars - The Clone Wars: The Complete Season 2 [DVD].

Created and produced by George Lucas, this first-ever TV production from Lucasfilm Animation explores the tumultuous time between Episodes II and III, expanding the scope of Star Wars beyond anything seen in the feature films:

With the fate of the galaxy hanging in the balance, the heroes of the Republic – including the valiant Jedi Knights and their loyal clone troopers – fight bravely to repel the attacks of the evil Separatists and their droid army.

Featuring cutting-edge animation and a host of special bonus materials, this collection explores the farthest reaches of ‘a galaxy far, far away’. With fierce battles and expanded storylines, these are Star Wars adventures that are bigger, bolder and more intense than ever before. The four disc set includes all 22 action-packed episodes and to put it rather simply, Clone Wars is very genius! This is a must-see for any Star Wars fans.

And, this week, after much careful (dog walking) consideration, I have finally decided on my most favourite Star Wars character.

So, my weekend question to you is this: Care to guess which Star Wars character I like the best and why?

I am curious to see which of you me well, does know… (was that a clue? you reckon?)

Yoda, think I you are - because sensibly a sentence construct you cannot(?)
Sad to say, younger daughter - now 13 - has never really taken to Star Wars beyond playing Lego SW on PS2. At the risk of sounding like a total nerd, I broke our TV before last by getting Luke to do a double twist and slam his light saber into the floor - just as he did the TV set went ‘POP’. The force was awfully strong in that one

Ha! I will let you know if you are right later on…. ooooh, the suspense!
I want to play Lego SW with you. They are bringing out a SW game on the Kinect and I can’t wait. x

Ah! Or am I just being a devious trickster? Oh yes, I am so using the force to trick you all… Love Chewy too.

Kinect is what happens when gaming goes over to the Dark Side - you have to get up and move! Have been practising hard with Daughter’s Wii and can now bowl, play basketball and pilot a light aircraft without standing up - need more practise before I can ‘dance’ sitting down though.
Last weekend’s Lara Croft/centaurs challenge didn’t go at all well. I’ve started a new game, using a ‘walkthrough’ cheat from the web, to pick up all artefacts, relics etc hoping that this will get me past the sticking point. It’s sad - I should get a life!

You can dance sitting down! I honestly think that I need you to be my new best friend. You are ace!

Have spent this evening having my tennis technique laughed at by daughters. They believe in standing up and moving around - and hubby is positive danger to furniture.

Come on Caroline, that’s so easy it’s gotta be Yoda!

The Clone Wars are awesome though, well kick the ass of those prequels!

Asajj Ventress has gotta be my fave and it looks like Ashoka’s story takes an ahem, dark turn in series 3, which should be awesome!!

Have you ever read any of the books?

Oh you’ve got me started now, have you seen the episode where Ashoka loses her lightsabre, in a remake of the Kurosawa film Stray Dog (of course referencing back to Star Wars’ Kurosawa inspiration), Oh my, I feel really sad now, but it’s so good!

It really isn’t YODA! Really, it isn’t. And there are books?

Oh my god Smailes you’re a Star Wars geek and a writer and you haven’t read the books!!! Take a look at the Courtship of Princess Leia, bit of a girly title but its well action packed and fun and Han is well good in it!

I’m thinking darth vader, because I know you’re a Build a bear nut and the Vader build a bear is just too cute, despite the fact that you’ve got leia & c3p0 pics on the blog.

That’s as scientific as it gets…
