I don’t know Chris Cleave.
I’d read his books and raved about them here and here, I’d tweeted a few @ replies to him on twitter, but that was that. I mean the man is currently The New York Times #1 Best Seller (for the third week running) and I didn’t even think that he’d agree to read Like Bees to Honey.
But he did.
Chris is a mega busy man, with tours and festival appearances. My manuscript has flown around the world with him and this morning, just before he jetted back to America for the rest of his tour, he emailed me a quote for the cover.
“Haunting, heartfelt and beautiful.” Chris Cleave, author of The Other Hand
I feel utterly humbled.
I couldn’t be any happier than I am at this moment, with the cover and the quote and the email that Chris sent me today. When someone you utterly admire says nice things, well those are the words that need to go on your wall, next to your desk and need to be read over and over again (until they become part of who you are).

Oh my that is incredible and what a heartfelt blog post. Enjoy as this is fantastic….x
An amazing and well deserved quote. Frame the email, read it every day and believe.
Squeeeeee indeed and OMG. I’m very excited for you. I do remember how much you loved his book because you were in part responsible for me reading it. I loved The Other Hand.
That is so exciting and fantastic! You should proudly hang it by your desk.
Well-deserved, hon. xx
Oh - how AMAZING must that be. ‘On the Other Hand’ is a sensational book. Enjoy this and all the good things that are coming your way.

Everything is coming together on this one, just like bees to honey.
Wonderful!
Congratulations Caroline xxx
How utterly fabulous and well deserved. x
WOW! You must be flying over the moon and as far away as Pluto with such high words for your work.
And i agree with your point about putting it above your desk on the wall. It’s what I did when I get only one word given to me by my favourite author at the time Joanne Harris on my valkyrie story ‘The Old Ways Never Die’ when I submitted it to her Runemarks Fan Fiction contest last year.
She described it as “great” and gave me an honourable mention on her website plus a link on her website fanfiction section to my story so now everyone can read the hidden world of the Norse gods! Plus she sent me a thank you note hand written and a handmade runic talsiman she made.
I had it printed in colour, laminated and proudly stuck it to my cupboard right next to my desk.
All little gifts of acknowledgement of my work made me absolutely sure that I will work hard until I die to tell the world the secret stories of the hidden and forgotten lives of the women who serve Odin till this die.
My many heart felt congratulations on such a triumphant moment in your writing career
I’m so happy for you and I can’t wait to read it. The rest of your books are sitting on the shelf waiting for their new sib!
