News: Supporting 'Mission Christmas'
Caroline Smailes
A couple of weeks ago, my publisher told me that for every copy of ‘The Unwrapping of Theodora Quirke’ purchased from the RedDoor Bookshop, they would donate £1 to my chosen charity.
Given the novel’s subject matter and given its focus on St Nick and the true meaning of Christmas, my decision was easy. I had to support ‘Mission Christmas’.
For many families Christmas is simply a luxury they can’t afford. Every year Radio City Cash for Kids launch ‘Mission Christmas’, asking listeners and locals to buy one extra gift to help thousands of disadvantaged children across Liverpool, the North West and North Wales. The aim is to ensure under-privileged children and young people wake up to a present on Christmas morning. It's a simple way for people to act in the true spirit of the season and to give a little something to disadvantaged young people.
Given how 2020 has been, what I’m doing feels like too tiny a thing and I’ll be sure to think of additional fundraising ideas when the mission is launched in October. But, for now, there are two options to pre-order a copy of my new novel, and £1 from every order from the RedDoor Bookshop will go to the appeal:
A signed/dedicated copy with an exclusive badge for £9.99.
A standard copy for £8.99.
RedDoor offer free P&P to all UK-based customers.
